FAQ

What it is

What does TradeYantra actually do?

It takes your trading method — written as formulas — and runs it on every position you hold, every day. It sizes each trade against a risk limit you set, holds your whole portfolio to a ceiling you set, works out the stop and target for every open position as it moves through your stages, and shows you what each trade truly cost after every charge. You keep the analysis and the decisions; it does the arithmetic and the record-keeping.

Do you give stock tips or trade recommendations?

No, and deliberately. TradeYantra ships no tips, no signals and no stock ratings. The traders it's built for already read charts well, and that judgement is the part worth keeping. You bring the selection; we run everything after it.

Is this an algo that trades for me?

No. Nothing reaches your broker without your press, or a schedule you set. Stops and targets go when you press Update GTT/Alert or at a daily time you choose; entry orders go only when you press Place. We compute, you authorise, and your own machine places the order.

Will it make me money?

We make no claim about what you'll earn, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can tell you is what the system does: every position sized to a risk you chose, a stop decided before entry, exits taken to your own rules, and an honest quarterly record of what happened — after every charge.

What markets and instruments?

Indian equities and futures, long and short. Options aren't available yet.

Do I need to know technical analysis?

Yes. The system runs your method — it doesn't supply one. If you can't yet decide which stocks are worth taking, this isn't the right tool for you at the moment.

Getting started

How long does setup take?

Most people spread it over a couple of evenings. There's a short video for each step.

On Core, how does TradeYantra know my trades?

You import your broker's trade file each day. Do it before 5 pm, so that evening's stops and targets include the day's trades. Trades imported later are picked up by the 1 am run and show by the next morning.

Do I need to connect my broker on Core?

No. There's no broker connection, no API key and no static IP on Core.

Does my free period start straight away?

No — it starts when your account is ready, not when you sign up. Setting up shouldn't come out of your trial.

What happens on my first day?

You import your trading history — as far back as your broker's records go, not just the last ninety days. History import is available for Zerodha, Fyers and Dhan. Every trade appears on its own chart with the orders that built it, IPO allotments and demergers and splits are proposed automatically, historical prices are adjusted for them, and you get your record quarter by quarter with the charges included.

Do I have to start with a large account?

No. Many traders start deliberately small, run their method for a quarter, and scale the capital once their own win rate and reward-to-risk say it's earned.

I already have a working system. Do I have to change it?

No — the point is the opposite. You write your system as formulas and it runs as you designed it. Three strategies ship as worked examples — Swing, Positional and Investment — to show what the formula language can express rather than to tell you how to trade.

Brokers and the executor

Which brokers do you support?

Zerodha, Angel One, Fyers and Dhan today for both plans. More brokers are being added for import through the launch quarter — tell us yours on the pricing page and we'll write to you the day it's supported.

What's the difference between Core and Connected?

Who places the order. On Core, TradeYantra works everything out and you place the orders at your broker yourself. On Connected, the executor — a small application on your own Windows computer or your own Linux cloud server — places them for you when you press Update GTT/Alert, or at a time you set.

Why do I need to install something for Connected?

SEBI expects broker orders to originate from your own registered connection. Our servers can't legitimately place them for you, so the executor does it where your account is registered. It's also why your broker credentials never need to reach us at all.

What are the executor's requirements?

A Windows computer, or your own Linux cloud server (for example an Amazon Lightsail plan from about $5 a month plus GST, which includes a static IP); a static IP registered with your broker; and the machine running when orders are sent. You can authorise from anywhere — including your phone — but the machine has to be on for the instruction to reach your broker.

Why do I need a static IP?

Since April 2026, SEBI requires that orders placed through a broker's API come from a static IP address registered with that broker. This applies across the industry, not just to us — every broker now rejects API orders from unregistered addresses.

How do I get one, and what does it cost?

Two routes, and most traders find one of them straightforward.

From your ISP — many offer it as a domestic add-on without moving you to a business plan. Broadly: BSNL around ₹100–200 a month, local providers such as Excitel, Hathway and Tikona around ₹100–300, Airtel Xstream Fiber around ₹300–600, JioFiber ₹200–500 where available. GTPL arrange it through your local operator. Availability varies by city and exchange, so ask your provider.

Or from a dedicated provider — several Indian services exist specifically for this, from roughly ₹100–500 a month, and they support whitelisting with every major broker.

Either way you then register the address with your broker. Both steps are arranged directly by you; we don't resell either.

How many IPs can I register with my broker?

It varies. Zerodha and Fyers allow two (a primary and a secondary); Angel One up to five per API key; Dhan shows its limit on its Static IP page. Zerodha and Dhan also let you change a registered IP only once a week, so check it before saving. Worth knowing if you run the executor on more than one machine.

Careful: don't whitelist your normal home IP. This is the single most common mistake. An ordinary broadband connection has a dynamic address that changes on a router restart or a lease renewal — so whitelisting it appears to work, then silently stops days later and your orders start being rejected. You need an address your provider guarantees is fixed.

Can I avoid the static IP altogether?

Yes — choose Core. Because you place the orders yourself in your broker's own platform, no API order is involved and the requirement doesn't apply. Everything else works the same.

Your strategy and formulas

What is a strategy?

Your trading method, named and written as rules. For each stage of a trade it holds four formulas: where the stop sits, how much quantity it covers, where the target sits, and how much that books.

What are stages?

A ladder. As a trade clears each target it's promoted and the next stage's rules take over — stop steps up, target re-cuts, next tranche books. You write the ladder once and it climbs itself.

What can I write formulas against?

Price levels, multi-day and multi-week highs and lows, moving averages, ATR, your entry price, the risk you actually took, and your remaining quantity. Stops anchored to the entry day stay fixed for the life of that stage.

I don't know how to write formulas. That's what we help with. Describe how you trade in plain language and we'll turn it into the formulas that run it — that translation is part of what you're paying for, not an extra.

Can other people see my strategy?

No. Your formulas live in your account. They're never shared, published or offered to anyone else, and we don't run a strategy marketplace.

Risk and orders

How is my position size decided?

From three numbers you set: your capital, the share of it you'll have at risk at any one time, and how many trades that should support. Risk-per-trade falls out of those, and every position is sized so a loss costs you what you chose. Quantity always rounds down, so a trade can't risk more than you allowed.

What is Total O-Risk?

What your whole portfolio would lose if every stop were hit. Your broker holds those stop orders and will never compute it for you.

What happens if a trade would take me over my limit?

It's refused. Not a warning you click through — if the trades you've selected would take your projected Total O-Risk above your Maximum Open Risk, placement is blocked until you deselect enough of them to fit.

Do my orders sit at the broker overnight?

Yes, once you've sent them. They rest as an OCO pair — when one fires, the other cancels — so the exit happens whether or not you're watching. That includes Angel One, where the pair is one OCO rule. If the stop and target cover different quantities, the part they don't share rides as a separate single order.

What's the evening timeline?

Each trading day, in Indian time:

What is market stance?

A daily reading of market breadth, computed each trading evening across the Nifty 500: how many sectors and stocks are trending up, where the index sits against its 50-day average, its three-month momentum, and how volatile the market is. It settles on one of four readings — bad, weak, normal or favourable — and a new reading has to hold for three days before it counts. When it's switched on for your account, it scales how much new risk your account may take: at "bad", no new entries; at "favourable", your full ceiling. It never changes the stops and targets on trades you already hold. It describes the market; it doesn't tell you what to buy or sell.

What if the market gaps past my stop?

You can choose a market-order exit on any position, so a gap still gets you out. What that gap costs is then measured and reported to you per trade and per quarter, rather than quietly absorbed.

What if I don't review one evening?

Set a daily time and your stops and targets go by themselves. Otherwise, your existing orders stay live at your broker — you're not unprotected. They were worked out for where each trade stood when you last pressed Update, so a position that has since moved a stage is resting on a stop that no longer matches its rules.

Data and security

Do you store my broker credentials?

No. On Connected they're entered into the executor on your own machine. On Windows they're held in the Windows Credential Manager — the same vault Windows uses for its own saved passwords, encrypted against your Windows account. On your own Linux cloud server they're held in an encrypted store sealed to that server. Our servers never receive them, store them, or have any way to reach them. On Core there's nothing for us to hold at all: you place the orders at your broker.

What do you and the executor exchange?

Trading instructions and results only: which stop and target orders should exist, and confirmation of what was placed. Order data, never credentials.

Can I remove my credentials?

Any time, from the executor's setup or by uninstalling it. Because they only ever existed on your machine, removing them there removes them completely — there's no server-side copy.

Who can see my trades?

You. Your trade history, strategies and journal are yours, and you can export your trade history and holdings as CSV files at any time.

Do you store my card?

No. Payments run through Razorpay and your card or UPI mandate is held by them.

Billing

When am I charged?

At the end of your free period, and not before. Before every automatic payment we email you at least 24 hours ahead with the amount and the date. If your plan has no payment method set up, we remind you 15 days before it ends. No charge ever arrives as a surprise.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from Account settings, in two clicks. No call, no retention questions. Your access continues until the date already shown. Cancel during the free period and nothing is ever charged.

How long is the free period?

One month with no payment details, or three months with a UPI mandate or card. It starts when your account is ready, not when you sign up. Add a payment method during your first month and the three months apply from the day your account was ready.

What happens to my data if I stop?

It stays yours. Your trade history, strategies and journal remain in your account, and you can export your trade history and holdings as CSV files at any time.

Is GST included in these prices?

Prices are shown before GST, with the amount actually charged stated underneath each one. GST is 18%.

Can I switch between Core and Connected?

Yes, either direction. The change takes effect when your current paid period ends. There's no proration.

What if I change brokers?

Your subscription is tied to one broker and client ID. To move to a different broker account, raise a ticket from inside your account or write to support@tradeyantra.com.

Is there a discount for a longer commitment?

Yes. Against paying quarterly, Annual saves 12% on Core and 14% on Connected; 2 Years saves 25% on Core and 29% on Connected.

Do you offer refunds?

The free period is our refund policy: you run TradeYantra on your own account before anything is charged. A paid period isn't refunded on a change of mind; cancelling stops renewal and your access runs to the end of the period you paid for. If a material failure on our side stops the core service working as described and we can't fix it in reasonable time — as a guide, 14 days from your report — we refund you in full or for the time affected. The full terms are in our Refund Policy.

Prices and plans are on the pricing page.

Support

How do I get help?

Raise a ticket from inside your account — it arrives with your plan, broker and setup state attached, so nobody has to ask — or write to support@tradeyantra.com.

Can you help me set up my strategy?

Yes. Describe how you trade and we'll work through turning it into formulas with you.

Something looks wrong in my numbers. Tell us what you're looking at and what you expected. Every figure the product shows is computed from your own orders, so there's always a trail back to the trades that produced it.
